  The Brian Hughes Collection

Brian Hughes began work on a black and white photographic archive of Belfast in 1990 while
employed as a community photographer, recording
the changing architecture and street activity of the
city at a time of great social change.

The content of this archive has since expanded
to include landscapes captured on infared film,
historic buildings, parades, traditional fairs, and political wall murals.

Prints from The Brian Hughes Collection can be
viewed at Central Library Belfast, The Ulster
Museum Belfast and The National Photographic Archive Dublin.

These establishments have used photographs
from the collection in recently published books.

With over twenty years photographic experience behind him, Brian Hughes now works as a professional commercial photographer from his
Newtownabbey location.
